Think Again
The Power of Knowing What You Don’t Know
Adam Grant
Think Again argues that being open-minded is a recurring state, not a label. In a sense, the book is a capstone course in liberal arts studies, shortened from 15 weeks to a few days. We are especially fond of the author’s anlysis of the individual thought process: he suggests that we commonly preach, prosecute, or politicize. The preferred alternative is to experiment, offering ideas as a type of hypothesis. The book, however, is much more than a self-help text. Other sections include material on opening other people’s minds. There are obvious applications in the political realm. For those in the investment business, mental dexterity is de rigueur, given that the best ideas often spark heated debate. This book will make those roundtable arguments more enjoyable. Think Again has ranked impressively on the major bestseller lists since it was published in February 2021, largely because of its fluid writing style. While the base material aligns with convention, the book excels at providing texture and color through headline stories and everyday narratives.
